New jewelry, old icons

MANILA, Philippines - Even from the grave, stylish women continue to inspire.

Jul B. Dizon Jewellery celebrates its 35th anniversary with “Ode,” a special exhibit that pays homage to world-class style icons. The exhibit also highlights designer Janina Dizon’s own sixth year anniversary store opening with JBD Jewellery.

For the exhibit, held at the Rigodon Ballroom of the Manila Peninsula on July 23, the Dizon siblings, Janina, Ginny, Candy and Lucille, each selected a woman they admire to adorn with pieces from their exclusive jewelry collection, like Elizabeth Taylor, the Duchess of Windsor Wallis Simpson, Her Highness Princess Grace Kelly and Tina Chow. Models will portray the icons wearing clothes designed by local fashion designers Rajo Laurel, Ivarluski Aseron, JC Buendia and Joey Samson.

“Jewelry design is an art form where we paint with gemstones,” says designer Ginny Dizon. “The timeless concept of beauty, elegance, whimsy and sophistication come alive in our creations. Through this exhibit, we are showcasing our distinct points of view as designers, using female icons as our own moving palettes.” The featured jewelry collection will be on sale at the anniversary event.
