Cai Subijano - The Philippine Star

Name game

MANILA, Philippines - Model Cara Delevingne is sure making a name for herself. And boy, does she know it. After being named the top model at London Fashion Week, the current face of DKNY and Chanel and the British Fashion Awards’ Model of the Year for 2012 decided to join the ranks of Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham and trademarked her name by registering it with the Intellectual Property Office. Considering this girl seems bent on world domination — she’s expressed the desire to design a range of plain T-shirts, go into acting and possibly, enter pop stardom, alongside pal Rihanna — it’s a savvy decision. Perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to take out an insurance policy on her famous bushy brows and razor-sharp cheekbones. Your move, Karlie Kloss. You too, Karlie Kloss’ bob.

Labia very much

Any woman who’s ever felt self-conscious about her enlarged labia, raise your hand. Too shy? Okay, why not take a photo of your labia and post it on the Internet instead? That seems to be the train of thought of the 24-year-old Australian woman who started the Large Labia Project on Tumblr. By encouraging women from all over the world to send their explicit selfies to the Large Labia Project, she hopes to encourage the idea that especially when it comes to vaginas, there is no such thing as “ideal.” As Emma, the site’s founder told Dailylife.com.au, “The most common reaction (from women) is relief, tremendous relief that they are not alone, and that a huge body of women share vulva similar to them, or that they can see that there isn’t the homogeneity in labia size, shape and color that they’d been convinced existed.” We wonder if there’s something similar for dudes with penis insecurity.

Making a spectacle

Itching to ditch your contact lenses, but haven’t quite found the right pair of nerdy hipster glasses? Look beyond Oliver Peoples and check out Warby Parker — the brand sells monocles, for crying out loud. Launched back in 2010, the line of optical frames and sunglasses quickly gained exposure on Vogue and GQ for their vintage-inspired designs and affordable prices, along with their Buy A Pair, Give A Pair policy, which provides optical frames to those in need for every pair they sell. Now, not only have J. Crew CEO Mickey Drexler and American Express invested in the start-up, but The New York Times have christened them “the next Tory Burch” and Google has tapped them to design their upcoming range of computerized glasses. Time to get your Poindexter on, nerds!

Watch envy

Lusting over the Chanel La Montre Premiére reissue we featured in last week’s YStyle Picks, but can’t get over the price? First of all, you’re not alone. Second, we definitely have something to cheer you up. Last Feb. 28, Karl Lagerfeld launched his exclusive seven-piece collaboration with Fossil watches and the timepieces are beautiful enough to almost make you forget about the  La Montre Premiére. “You cannot buy time but you can get a beautiful watch to measure time without spending a fortune,” said Lagerfeld of the collection, which is available online at watchkarl.com. Priced between $150 to $595, it’s almost as if we didn’t have enough reasons to adore the kaiser, no matter how tactless he is sometimes.

J-Law is the new Miss Dior

First of all, how adorable was Jennifer Lawrence at the Oscars? From that unforgettable trip — literally — up the stairs to accept her award to flipping the bird in the Oscars press room (and then looking shocked afterwards. Did she forget that there were cameras pointed at her in the press room?), she made almost everybody forget how much they hated Anne Hathaway and her nipples. In timing with her win, Dior just released the first images of J-Law as the face of Miss Dior for their latest handbag collection. In a behind-the-scenes video for the campaign, Lawrence was quoted saying, “Dior represents beauty and strength in women and that’s how I feel when I’m wearing his clothes. They just make me feel so confident.” Well, it sure takes a confident woman to compose a coherent acceptance speech after tripping in a floor-length Dior gown. Good job, Jennifer!
