Men in skirts
Scotsmen have been doing it for ages. Designer Puey Quiñones doesn’t go anywhere unless garbed in a floor-sweeping, eye-catching style. What am I talking about? Men wearing skirts. Mel Gibson donned the kilt (and flipped it to reveal his posterior in one infamous scene) in Braveheart and drew sighs from the audience. (This was way before his drunken rant incident.)
Marc Jacobs is one of the more popular proponents of the man skirt. The designer has made more than a few bows in his now-signature bottom. Paired with chunky loafers and a crisp white Oxford shirt, Jacobs looks anything but effete.
For dudes tempted to enter skirt territory but worried about looking unmanly, switch it up with a T-shirt and funky sneakers. Or: use old Hallow’s Eve as an excuse to test-drive the trend the old-fashioned way. Wear it out with pride and wait for the feedback to arrive.
