MANILA, Philippines - With so much happening in the Manila art scene, keeping track of which exhibitions are up where and when can be a dizzying experience. Mark your calendars as Young STAR simplifies your life with a cheat sheet on the city’s must-visit art galleries.

‘You Have Every Right’

Ateneo Art Gallery

Talk about girl power in the extended run of this year’s feminist exhibit. “You Have Every Right” features works in new media, video, photography, and painting from Maria Cruz, Lizza May David, Tracey Moffatt, Claudia Del Fierro, Annika Eriksson, Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen and Kiri Dalena.

Ateneo Art Gallery is located at the Old Rizal Library building in the Ateneo de Manila University campus on Katipunan Avenue.  It is open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays.  It’s been extended until June.

‘Immanent Geographies’

The Drawing Room

The lines between reality and fantasy blur in this mesmerizing group exhibit featuring the striking photographs of Emmanuel Santos’ Second Earth, RJ Fernandez’s Moving Mountains, Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen’s Afghan Hounds and Kidlat de Guia’s Sakadang Bakal.

You can visit The Drawing Room at 1007 Metropolitan Avenue, Metrostar Building, Makati City from 10 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Immanent Geographies will run until June 2, 2013.

‘Fragments’

Eugenia Alcaide

Art Informal

Armed with a needle and a spool of thread, Eugenia Alcaide gives the mythical Greek weaver Arachne a run for her money as she creates exquisite three-dimensional portraits by embroidering images onto multiple layers of silk.

Art Informal can be found on 277 Connecticut Street, Greenhills East, Mandaluyong City. Be sure to visit between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Fragments will end on June 10, 2013.

‘The Glass Between Us’

Silverlens Gallery

Out of the ordinary can come the extraordinary; in a follow up to her previous show, “Bundle”, Filipino-American artist Hanna Pettyjohn contrasts different tones and hues by pairing large close-up portraits with still life paintings of everyday fabrics, such as bed linens, collared shirts and wrinkled slacks.

Visit Silverlens Gallery at 2320 Don Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Glass Between Us runs until June 1, 2013.

Light and Space Contemporary

Visitors are in for an explosion of color as new media artist and painter Julius Redillas uses watercolor paintings to communicate his view of a world where colors are reminiscent of our most familiar memories and deepest desires.

Head over to Light and Space Contemporary at 53 Fairlane Street, West Fairview, Quezon City between 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday to Wednesday and on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. Imponderable World runs from May 30 to June 28, 2013.
