Reading campaign for public school kids launched

-

MANILA, Philippines - Globe, a leading telecommunications company in the Philippines and international partner Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel), Asia’s leading communications group, recently launched its Globe-SingTel Reading Campaign which aims to improve reading competencies and encourage love for reading among elementary students from the most remote areas of the country. The program aims to provide each student with several storybooks provided by SingTel plus a school bag filled with school supplies given by Globe through its CSR arm Globe Bridging Communities (Globe BridgeCom). The program is in line with the existing national reading program of the Philippine government through the Department of Education’s Every Child a Reader Campaign (ECARP). Launched in 2007, ECARP seeks to make every Filipino child a reader by providing them with relevant materials that will improve their reading skills by the end of Grade 3.
