KETCHUP PLEASE, LUIS! - KETCHUP PLEASE, LUIS! By Luis Carlo San Juan -
We Pinoys are so addicted to mobile phones that if we could, we’d change them as often as we change clothes. We ogle new phones like a kid cruising a toy store. There’s so much out there, I’ve stopped counting.

To make things easier, and for those who are thinking of having a new phone for 2007, this may help with your decision making. Nokia phones have long been known for being practical and easy to use, and Nokia’s recent line of music phones is no different. Besides, it has always been convenient to have the traditional (today that sounds like a primitive word) features of a phone and have a device to store and play one’s music.

Nokia N91 8GB. Can store up to 6,000 songs, and has dedicated music keys, premium inbox music-optimized headset with remote control, synchronization with Windows Media Player, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Nokia N73. Two gig memory capacity and an integrated stereo. Has a built in 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and auto-focus.

Nokia N70. With its two gig memory one can personalize music with a choice of digital music tracks and press the music key for direct access to them.

Nokia 5300 XpressMusic. With its slide design and eye-catching red and white color, it’s the most youth-oriented among the music phones. Can hold around 1,500 songs and has music keys with easy music playback control. Can listen to music while texting, browsing or taking pictures with its 1.3 megapixel camera. The 5300 also works like a flash drive and can easily transfer and drag songs using a USB connector.

Nokia 5500 Sport. For people with an active lifestyle. It has a stainless steel body and is shock-proof and water-resistant. Has instant swap key to switch between phone, music and sport modes.

To give you an idea of what we’re talking about, we produced a fashion shoot, using locally designed shirts and pants from talented Pinoy designers, a lively interpretation of what is music to us.
The Clothes
Individual expression through clothing is what people prefer nowadays. And these brands are just a preview of a growing number of choices of how we can express our own individuality with the help of these talented Pinoy designers and entrepreneurs.

Team Manila Shirts. It doesn’t matter whether one is here or abroad, one can wear this brand with pride. This is a brand showcasing how creative and colorful we Pinoys can be. Team Manila is known for turning Philippine icons, landmarks – even ordinary jeepneys, lampposts and signs – into stylish works of art and depicting them on shirts, totes, wallets, etc. Visit their store at Rockwell, Power Plant Mall or at http://teammanila.com/

Unbreakable Shirts. Give a guy, a good set of jeans, sneakers, a shirt, and he’s all set. This is where Unbreakable Shirts comes in. They saw the growing number of "sneaker-heads," or the simple shirt-and-sneakers market. As owner Jon Herrera puts it, "Sneaker-heads are on the hunt for the most original and unique sneakers and dress from the feet up." Their shirt designs are a mixture of music, art and street culture. For more information on their shirts, visit http://www.unbreakableapparel.com.

5378 by Jpoi. "Energy" is the thing that describes the creations of rising jeans designer Jeff Rogador, also known as "Jepoy." His pants are rich in detail, from pockets, buttons, to top-stitching with embroidery. His custom-made pants are edgy but practical. He mixes denim with other fabrics, which gives character to the wearer. And the good thing about his creations: "For every item purchased, 100 pesos will be donated to Lingkod ER foundation, a non-profit organization which helps less fortunate people who cannot afford hospital expense," he adds. 5378 by Jpoi pants available at Graxie Store, Power Plant Mall, Rockwell or contact 0921- 4484837, jrogador@yahoo.com.

Victor Jeans. Victor Jeans is the byword in custom-made jeans. For 2007, expect more leather details, pocket-size styles and more limited-edition denim designs from this edgy designer wear. The Victor Jeans Boutique is on the fourth level, Podium Mall, Ortigas.
