Where to shop: AS IN SHOP x Kalsada
MANILA, Philippines - If you’re both an ukay and coffee addict, this is going to be your idea of heaven. The AS IN SHOP x Kalsada Coffee pop-up is back, with the same concept of selling new and pre-loved books on film, photography, architecture and travel, with CDs and DVDs, clothing, stationery, jewelry, accessories and shoes. It will also have its Muji ukay with clothes from Uniqlo and H&M, so this may be your chance to buy H&M before the retail giant opens shop in Manila. Besides heavenly shopping, the pop-up sale will also have Kalsada’s special single-origin pour over and cold brew coffee sourced from farmers in Benguet and Mountain Province. This time, they will also serve tea coolers and coffee cocktails. Drunk and perky on a Sunday afternoon? Yes, please!
The AS IN SHOP x Kalsada pop-up will be held tomorrow at 59 Mahabagin Street, two doors from Maginhawa and around the corner from Burger Project and Sancho’s, Teacher’s Village East, Quezon City.
What to watch: ‘Ang Nawalang Kapatid’
It’s rare for a theater production to enjoy a rerun in the same year it was first shown, especially when its last show was only four months prior. But that’s the case with Dulaang UP’s Ang Nawalang Kapatid, a retelling of the Mahabharata, the world’s oldest and longest epic poem. Ang Nawalang Kapatid revolves around two royal families battling for power and the favor of the gods, and critics have called it “astonishing,” “elegant and regal” and “breathless and daring.” If critical raves don’t do it for you, perhaps consider the show’s costumes… or the lack of it. But of course, you shouldn’t see it for its, um, historically accurate costumes, but for its story, a deep look into the human persona, good and evil, and truth and illusion. But it does help that Dulaang UP was able to execute it well enough to warrant a demand for a rerun.
