MANILA, Philippines - When the iPhone 4S was launched by Globe, they made a pretty big deal out of making Steve Jobs’ last creation available in all their outlets. The best-selling gadget was officially unveiled by Globe late last year with a countdown at the Ayala Museum that concluded at the stroke of midnight. The event was attended by movers and shakers in fashion and entertainment, along with society’s crème dela crème. VIP guests and mobile addicts jammed and grooved to the music of international DJ/ producer Kaskade, top video DJ ChrisMyk and the country’s number one DJ and remixer, DJ FunkAv.
Model Alex Escat was an early bird, while matinee idols Xian Lim of top-rated show My Binondo Girl and Diether Ocampo were also spotted. Chief Supremo Tim Yap heightened the social glitter of the Globe, bringing with him his battalion of celebrity friends, like top hairstylist Jing Monis, model and host Bianca Valerio, model Carlos Concepcion, TV actor Mikael Daez, Philippine Azkals member Jason Sabio, media personality Cito Beltran, beauty expert Agoo Bengzon, racing champ Marlon Stockinger, and heiress of the Belo empire, Cristalle Henares.
iPhone 4S fanatics troop to the Greenbelt Globe Store to play with the most amazing phone yet. Cristalle also took the stage to award the first iPhone 4S gadget to one of her Twitter followers a few minutes before the official launch. Ten minutes before midnight, Globe president and CEO Ernest Cu took center stage and proudly revealed why Globe is the perfect partner for the iPhone 4S. Acknowledging the huge crowd that excitedly waited on until midnight, Cu instructed Siri, the newest feature of the iPhone 4S which acts as the user’s virtual personal assistant, to initiate the countdown in the last 10 seconds to midnight. As the clock struck 12, eager subscribers trooped to the Globe flagship store in Greenbelt and queued to get their units.
