A modern suburban community comes to life

Micah Levin Isla - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Here’s one question that you’ve probably heard and tried to answer at one time or another in your life: Where do you see yourself in five years?

Most likely, you’ve given the standard retort. Just like any hard-working individual out there, you envision yourself in a good company or starting up a business, happily married with kids or maybe just basking in the sweet sound of serenity while lying in a hammock right in the comfort of your lovely home. Of course, you only wish the best for your future self, but sometimes it’s quite hard to materialize such wonderful visions. Why not let Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) help paint that perfect picture for you? Consider a blissful life in a vast emerald zone where comfort takes on a trendier form and constant progress is the norm. A place where every corner meets your needs and every space reminds you that opportunities are boundless.

You will call this place Vermosa — a modern-suburban community that is built on every Filipino’s dream future: a self-contained city with plush residential areas, a central business district, prestigious institutions, lifestyle centers, and a state-of-the-art sports hub to boot.

“Vermosa will be a significant opportunity to bring in Ayala Land’s expertise and track record as a community builder and create another economic  growth center in the country,” Ayala Land’s president and CEO, Bobby Dy, shared.

At 700 hectares — and at a whopping P70 billion investment — Vermosa will be ALI’s fourth largest development, next to Nuvali in Laguna, Alviera in Pampanga and Makati. Vermosa is poised to become the new Ayala Alabang, only bigger and more attuned to the needs of the next generation.

Vermosa’s beauty is as promising as its perfect location. It is strategically situated south of the capital and connected to several thriving towns in Cavite and Laguna by way of Daang-Hari Road. Via the newly opened Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX), an Ayala-funded thoroughfare, Vermosa will be only 55 minutes away from Makati at peak hours. Imagine the joy of coming home to a lush paradise entrapment after a tiring day in the metro: priceless. And when the much-awaited Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) begins operating, Vermosa’s accessibility to key urban centers will further improve, as it will be linked closer to Sta. Rosa, Laguna and Dasmariñas and Kawit, Cavite. Surely, Vermosa will rise into a force to be reckoned with, but its existence will also serve another novel purpose — it will create a stronger sense of interdependence among burgeoning communities nearby.

If Vermosa were a person — aside from being warm, laid-back but definitely professional, hip and vibrant — he or she would be best known for his or her healthy and active lifestyle. Since the dawn of the digital era, stress levels have radically increased and competition in the workplace has never been tighter. The desire to over-accomplish and satisfy our ever-growing demands pose tougher threats to wellness. Being a proponent of holistic growth, ALI makes active lifestyle a vital element of Vermosa’s blueprint. So as part of its five-year plan (also known as Phase I), the world-class Vermosa Sports & Lifestyle Complex is already being constructed. This multimillion-peso integrated project includes a lot of breakthroughs — a sports science laboratory, which will be the country’s first complete facility of its kind; an Olympic-size pool that is qualified to host national and international events; a 400-meter oval track; the first purpose-built mountain bike skills trail; and a three-hectare motocross track which will open on October 18. It is important to note that the Vermosa Sports and Lifestyle Complex will be open to the public and will be helmed by highly capable and experienced coaches and trainers who have worked with Olympic medalists and world champion cyclists in Hong Kong.

In between workout sessions, residents and visitors can choose to exercise their purchasing power at Vermosa’s community retail center, where various sports-oriented shops and healthy restaurants can be found. Described by ALI’s SVP/head of Strategic Landbank Management Group Meean Dy, the leisure strip will attract not only sports enthusiasts and hobbyists but also families looking for some wholesome and action-packed fun.

The central business district is any city’s heartbeat; as long as it spikes, the capital flourishes. The 124-hectare future CBD will be properly zoned into two parts — a low-density, campus-type district with four- to eight-story buildings and a full-blown CBD to be developed over a longer period of time. Cementing Vermosa’s status as a self-contained entity is its 10-hectare allocation for institutional use, one of which is for educational institutions. If Nuvali has Miriam and Xavier and Alviera houses Holy Angels and Miriam, Vermosa is in talks with similar reputable academic institutions.

What’s a beautiful city without a string of stunning residential properties that define the overall quality of a fully-integrated estate? Of course, ALI will take its brand of well-designed living spaces and sophisticated residential designs to Vermosa. As part of Phase I, The Courtyards from Ayala Land Premier is already underway; and next year, Alveo and Avida will follow suit. When these three unique ALI residential brands are carefully woven into the Vermosa system, a sense of unity in diversity is surely on the horizon. (Not to mention the abundance of open spaces will definitely help shape and foster such a positive culture.)

Vermosa’s seamless integration of commercial and residential is evident in its zoning — a resident can reach the CBD on foot or through the dedicated bike lanes within 10 minutes. This traffic scheme is consistent with Vermosa’s active lifestyle philosophy.

“We are deliberately integrating the commercial and the residential uses. To enable this, part of the masterplan is an extensive and integrated pedestrian and bike lane network,” Meean Dy revealed.

If you gladly choose walking or biking to work over driving, that’s an indication of something good, right? Indeed, Vermosa knows how to translate vision into design, idea into a reality, and thought into action.

The next time someone asks you where you see yourself five years from now, it’s not entirely bad to feel clueless and unsure, but it would be nice and easier if you could say, “Well, by that time, I’ll be in Vermosa. How about you?”
