A shorter, simpler way of making it to Canada

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Foreign skilled workers who aspire to live in Canada can now acquire a permanent resident visa through a shorter process.

The applications of qualified applicants will be directly and immediately reviewed and approved by a Canadian provincial officer. A qualified applicant who passes the review shall be issued a nomination certificate, after which he shall receive an invitation to apply for a permanent resident visa.

The shorter way to acquire a Canadian permanent resident visa is open to people in the following “in-demand” occupations: managers in the financial, communications, retail, sales and marketing, hotel and restaurant sectors, electrical, software and computer engineers and computer technicians; pharmacists, occupational therapists and senior nurses; business services professionals, food service supervisors, insurance agents and brokers; sales representatives (wholesale) and retail and wholesale buyers, electricians, shipping and logistics coordinators, early childhood educators and technical/vocational administrators.

To qualify, an applicant must meet the following requirements: must be employed or have at least a one-year work experience in the “in-demand” occupation list; reach a minimum of 67 points on the skilled workers’ assessment schedule that will take into account five factors: education, English language proficiency, work experience, age and adaptability; and have the financial resources required for settlement purposes, application processing and  application fees.

Once the requirements have been assessed and completed, the processing of the application shall begin and will take an average of nine to 12 months to finish.  Applications must be filed before the end of October 2015.
