Merrymaking style

MANILA, Philippines –  Designer Jojie Lloren believes the holidays demand festive attire. “You need to be dressy,” he says, to celebrate Christmas. Though he’s a big believer in bold style, he’s always favored a striking, uncomplicated silhouette. “I’ve always preferred simple dressing,” he explains. “No need for christmas ornaments on your dress.”

His key elements for the perfect garment: “Comfort, good fit and quality,” he says. “That’s all you need.”

“For the holidays, I think a little black dress is a must so you can wear it to as many parties as you can,” he says. “Hopefully with a different crowd for each party,” he adds with a laugh. “It’s a very versatile piece —and you don’t need much to achieve the look.”

Though the little black dress is the workhorse of the wardrobe, he also thinks every woman needs equal parts opulent and classic in her wardrobe — just like the pieces he designed for his collection for Rustan’s label Luna.

Like the striking Halston Heritage gown, in a languid silk that glides with each step, you can find a festive, opulent spirit in the cleanest and simplest of dresses.
