Shanghai surprise
It started in 1994, with a small collection of 12 lipsticks at Barneys New York.
Since then, renowned French makeup artist François Nars has expanded his line to a full range of eye shadows, lip glosses, and face powders.
You may be surprised to find that Nars’ approach to modern makeup is simple yet revolutionary. He believes that makeup should not mask one’s features. The woman, her skin, must still shine through.

Also known for his two photography books (X-Ray in 1999 and Makeup Your Mind in 2001) Nars has collaborated with designers Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Sui, Versace, Valentino and photographers Richard Avedon, Patrick Demarchelier, Steven Meisel, Helmut Newton, Irving Penn and Bruce Weber.
This Spring 2008, Nars comes up with the Shanghai Lily collection, described as “the ultimate dichotomy of innocence and seduction, creating the modern hybrid of feminine temptation.”

Nars Lip Gloss (P1,350)
Comes in sheer cream and semi-sheer formulas. Can be worn alone or over any lip product. Shanghai Lily colors include Dolce and Greek.
Nars Velvet Lip Pencil (P1,300)
This revolutionary lipstick in a jumbo pencil combines the long-lasting effect of a lip liner with the rich application of a lipstick.
The Shanghai Lily color is called Belle de Jour.
