'They build a nation': 10 educators named Most Inspiring Teachers of 2025
MANILA, Philippines — Ten educators from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao have been named this year’s Most Inspiring Teachers of the Republic of the Philippines, in an award that honors Filipino educators for their dedication to youth formation and community impact, especially in underserved and resource-challenged settings.
The annual recognition is given by Saceda Youth Lead (SYL), a youth leadership organization based in Negros Oriental. Now in its 12th year, the award goes beyond academic metrics and instead highlights moral leadership, grassroots service, and transformative educational work.
"This award recognizes educators who, through their courage, compassion, and competence, are able to mold minds and refine character. They do not only teach; they build a nation," Dave Saceda, chair and founder of SYL, said in a news release.
Out of over 100 nominations received between October and April, 10 educators were selected following a multi-round screening that included an assessment of achievements, leadership roles, organizational affiliations and a background check.
Finalists also participated in a two-day formation training in Dumaguete ahead of the September 5 awarding ceremony.
The 2025 Most Inspiring Teachers of the Philippines named were:
Luzon
- Prof. Romiro G. Bautista – Quirino State University
- Dr. Jonald B. Sia – Osmeña Colleges
- Dr. Ma. Agnes P. Nuestro – Cavite State University
Visayas
- Milaner R. Oyo-a – DepEd Calbayog City
- Allan Estrello D. Lanito – DepEd Bais City
- Mitchell Dave M. Cabuguas – DepEd Carcar
- Nicasio A. Pimentel III – University of Antique
Mindanao
- Jasper L. Lobaton – Magpet National High School, Cotabato
- Alcher Juagpao Arpilleda – St. Paul University Surigao
- Nasser A. Salain – Basilan State College
"To be recognized nationally is an honor, but to serve and inspire my students every day—that, to me, is the true reward," said Nicasio A. Pimentel III, Instructor I at the University of Antique and one of this year’s honorees.
Each awardee will be conferred the honorary title Profesor Ad Honorem and Vitasta Ambassador Distinction by Université Henry Dunant, an international partner of Saceda Youth Lead.
The final awarding ceremony will be held on September 5 in Dumaguete City.
