Life & luxury at the renovated Makati Shang ballroom
MANILA, Philippines - Following the renovation of its event spaces, most impressively the transformation of the hotel’s 1,500-sq.m. Rizal Ballroom, Makati Shangri-La recently welcomed distinguished guests to the relaunch of Rizal Ballroom.
The evening began with a walk up the grand staircase lined with hand-tufted wool carpeting of burgundy and gold, and surrounded by custom-etched mirrors with iridescent gold-leaf backing.
Guests included Grace Glory Go, Fortune Ledesma, Washington SyCip, William Go, Alex Lichaytoo, George Yang, Chito and Anna Sobrepeña, Carla Sibal, Becky Garcia, Marietta Santos, Philip Cu-Unjieng, Raul Manzano, Annie Ringor, Donnie Ramirez, Anton Mendoza, Dennis and Tessa Valdes, and Irene-Marcos Araneta.
Hong Kong-based Leese Robertson and Freeman Designers Limited took their cue from the hotel’s luxuriant yet verdant feel and embellished the ballroom with baroque-inspired pieces that romance the senses and evoke timeless refinement.
Hundreds of swivel spotlights and dimmers highlighted each table; onstage, a theatrical show directed by Audie Gemora heralded a parade of waiters bearing delightful appetizers on luminous dishes.
“Makati Shangri-La has always been known for its continuous refinement, constantly giving clients the best the industry has to offer and exceeding the demands of a discriminating market,” says Jing Fadriga, the hotel’s director of events. “Here, we will provide guests celebrating their milestone moments with the extraordinary Shangri-La experience.”
