Jessie J cancer-free a year after early diagnosis
MANILA, Philippines — British pop singer Jessie J is celebrating being free from cancer, nearly a year since she was diagnosed with early breast cancer.
The artist announced the diagnosis last June a couple months while promoting her first album in seven years, noting she'd be stepping away from music to undergo a mastectomy.
On May 22, Jessie uploaded on Instagram a video of herself at a clinic for her annual check-up and an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) examination.
"RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE!!" the singer wrote in her caption with several crying emojis. "I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year."
Among those who expressed support in the comments were Rita Ora, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Visage, and Lauren Jauregui.
Jessie is best known for her hit songs "Price Tag," "Bang Bang," "Domino," "Do It Like A Dude," "Laserlight," and "Flashlight."
In 2023, she welcomed a son with basketball player Chanan Colman, with whom Jessie has been for five years now.
