A down-to-earth yoga celebration

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Global Mala Project brought the global yoga community together from every continent, school, and approach to form a “mala around the earth” through collective practices based on the sacred cycle of 108 (108 surya namaskar, mantra, kriya, meditation). These events happened simultaneously in over 100 cities, including New York, Munich, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hongkong, and Tokyo. It is the largest unified worldwide yoga event, dedicated to positive change.

On Fall Equinox and the United Nations International Day of Peace, studios, teachers, organizations across the globe had yoga celebrations, raising funds and awareness for some of the most essential issues of our times. The funds raised went to organizations like Trees for the Future (www.plant-trees.org) and Tubbataha Foundation (www.tubbatahareef.org).

Shiva Rea (www.shivarea.com) was the catalyst for this worldwide event. The Manila Chapter was led by Teresa Herrera (www.teresaherrera.net). Supporting the event were teachers Corey Wills, Roland Dela Cruz, Francesca Regala, Al Jerreau Galang, Tristan Choa, Jeannie Javelosa, among others.

The event was made possible by Dove, Vaseline Lotion, The Grove by Rockwell, Team Manila, The Farm, Aura Athletica, Yogitoes, and Certified Calm.
