The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -On Discovery Channel’s new series, Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls, the world-renowned survival expert takes on the role of host, judge and mentor for a course of over eight weeks during which he will guide 10 two-person teams in a non-stop extreme survival journey through the treacherous terrains of New Zealand’s scenic South Island. Their mission? To survive the wild as a group while competing against one other through Man Vs. Wild-style challenges in the hopes of proving their mettle, avoiding elimination… and claiming a life-changing grand prize of half a million US dollars.

Premiering on Discovery Channel, the eight-week series pits contestants against the worst that nature throws at them every step of the way, working together to overcome the cold, fatigue and numerous other hardships. From dense forests and sheer mountain drop-offs, to freezing cold rivers and unforgiving glacier crevasses, the duos will face mentally and physically grueling challenges orchestrated by Bear to test them on various survival basics including starting a fire, building shelter, overcoming pitfalls and finding food.

Catch Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls on Discovery Channel with encores every Friday at 11 p.m, Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 10 p.m.
