Mouthwatering lunch ideas to survive long workdays

Charmaine De Lazo - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines – Still got reports to finish, meetings to attend, or deadlines to meet in the afternoon? Looks like it’s going to be a long day at work. Survive the day by leaving your desk and going out to get some really good lunch.

A study commissioned by a bread brand in the UK and carried out by University of Sussex found that “the desk was the least satisfying place to have lunch,” The Telegraph reports. People are happier and more productive when they go out for lunch, particularly at the beach, park and restaurants.

Having a sumptuous meal at midday can indeed give you the much-needed boost to survive a tiring day at work. And we’ve got suggestions:

Go for Pinoy favorites.

If you’re missing home, head to a restaurant that serves great Filipino dishes. What could be more energizing than hefty servings of rice meals along with savory viands? So, go ahead and taste home for lunch.

BBQ Liempo

Enjoy Western cuisine.

Not in the mood for Filipino food? Grab something from the West. Think burgers, steaks, pasta or anything cheesy.

Cordon Bleu

Indulge healthily.

Want to treat yourself but want to keep it healthy? Don’t worry. There are a lot of restaurants today that don’t fail to include healthy items in their menus. Just pick dishes that fit not only your diet but also your cravings.

Chicken Parmesan with Pasta

Have a quick but really delish bite.

If you’re really that busy and you couldn’t stay out of the office for at least an hour, you don’t have to deprive yourself of a delish lunch. Grab a sandwich that can give you the energy and happiness you need for the afternoon.

Try something unique.

Get adventurous and try a dish or a restaurant that you haven’t tried before. There are a lot of new lunch spots in business districts that have yet to be discovered. There are also interesting innovations in food, just like IHOP’s original creation, Waffle Burger, which won a top prize in the International Dine Chef Competition, a contest of all IHOP chefs worldwide.

Know what to eat for lunch now? Go ahead and enjoy a good meal with your colleagues. And claim it: You’ll happily survive today.

And in case you’re wondering where you can find all the mouthwatering food items featured above, they’re all served at IHOP which has just introduced their new lunch and dinner menu.

“The new menu, which includes some dishes that were created specifically for the Philippines, is designed to provide guests, many of whom come to the restaurants for lunch and dinner, an even greater variety of options for those mealtimes in addition to the familiar IHOP classic dishes which are available throughout the day,” IHOP said in a statement.

Drop by for an all-day happiness!
