A Boy. A Book. A Birthday.

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Zachary Olazo, Romulo’s grandson, entered the program area pulling a cart with a copy of Romulo Olazo’s coffeetable art book. The book was then handed over by the publisher, John Valenzuela, to Romulo Olazo, thus officially launching the book that took almost four years to produce. This ceremonial book launch took place in July at the ground floor lobby of the Ayala Museum with director Mariles Gustilo welcoming guests and Audie Gemora graciously hosting the program.

The evening also marked the artist’s 80th birthday, who aside from being serenaded by Audie Gemora with his touching rendition of “Impossible Dream”, was also given a musical medley tribute by the Olazo children. Backed by a powerful presentation it traced the artist’s journey in “following the road, going the distance, and finding his corner in the sky.”
