NCCA leads culture preservation drive for National Heritage Month 2026
MANILA, Philippines — The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is leading the nationwide celebration of National Heritage Month (NHM) this May 2026, anchored on the theme “Roots and Horizons: Our Shared Heritage, Our Collective Future.”
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 439, the month-long observance highlights efforts to strengthen public appreciation of Filipino cultural identity and promote the safeguarding of the country’s historical and cultural resources.
The celebration began with a press event at the Malacañan Palace Complex on April 30, followed by the official kick-off in Angono, Rizal on May 10.
Programs across the country include heritage workshops in Batanes, cultural mapping in Marawi City, local history writeshops in Iligan, and archiving and disaster preparedness seminars in Bohol and Bulacan.
