Children's book features works of national artist BenCab

MANILA, Philippines - A children's book inspired by the works of Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera was recently launched.

Titled “BenCab Activity Book for Children: Imagine, Play, Color, Learn," the book written by Karen Joy Desamparado-Foronda was released as part of the celebration of BenCab's 50 years in the art industry.

The 74-year-old soft spoken artist, who started his career at 23, collaborated with the Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development (Canvas) for the book.

Book purchases will aid in distributing books to underprivileged children in remote areas and disaster struck provinces. For a single book purchase, two will be donated to kids in need.

The book which aims to teach children about nationality and art includes activities like coloring, word search and writing.

This is not the first time the visual artist released a book. In 2008, his book titled "BenCab: Nude Drawings" was published by Anvil Publishing Inc. - Alixandra Caole Vila
