At the elegant Manila Polo Club, family and friends gathered for a heartwarming double celebration honoring the 60th birthday of Joy Rojas and the 23rd wedding anniversary of Joy and Trisha Bunye Rojas.

The evening was a beautiful reflection of the couple’s life together — gracious, joyful, and deeply rooted in faith, friendship and family. Guests included Joy's La Salle Greenhills and Ateneo Law School classmates, former colleagues from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and the Philippine Racing Commission, law office associates, members of the art community, and their close-knit family circle. Adding a touching note to the celebration were Augustinian Recollect nuns who had been close to Joy’s late mother, serenading the couple with a special song that moved many guests.

Joy and Trisha’s love story began in law school, where friendship blossomed into a lasting partnership built on trust, loyalty and shared dreams. More than two decades later, their bond remains inspiringly strong.

The festivities also featured coveted Hermès gift packs raffled off to 10 lucky winners. To the amused frustration of many female guests, most of the winners turned out to be men — prompting laughter and playful protests throughout the ballroom.

It was an evening of gratitude, enduring love, and treasured friendships.

David Guerrero revisits the Beatles’ Manila Saga

Writer David Guerrero with Ramon Jacinto

Those of a certain generation still remember the frenzy when The Beatles arrived in Manila in 1966 — only to leave amid chaos after unknowingly snubbing an invitation from First Lady Imelda Marcos. The infamous incident, which made global headlines, was revisited at an engaging book launch by Fil-English author and adman David Guerrero at Manila House.

A Manila-based writer who loves both The Beatles and the Philippines, Guerrero also researched, wrote and presented the BBC World Service documentary When the Beatles Didn’t Meet Imelda.

Guerrero presented You Won’t See Me, an engrossing account of the 48 dramatic hours that forever linked pop culture and politics. Hosted by Bambina Olivares, the intimate gathering drew notable guests that remembered that era. The book, published by Penguin Books SEA, is now available at Fully Booked.
