Global tribute to harmony
At the recently concluded Expo 2025 Osaka, held on Yumeshima Island, Osaka, Japan, the Forest of Civilizations stood as a breathtaking tribute to humanity’s unity and enduring bond with nature.
Featuring 133 magnificent 6,500-year-old subfossil oak trees from the Czech Republic, the installation became a global symbol of peace, culture and environmental consciousness.
The Mondejar Gallery — founded by visionary Filipina-Swiss curator Minerva Mondejar Steiner — played a key role in strengthening both Philippine and international participation, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and artistic diplomacy. Graced by world leaders, royals, and cultural icons, the installation inspired awe and admiration, reminding all that caring for our planet is both an ecological and moral duty.
A dazzling disco night for Shirley
Best-dressed society lady and gracious Rotarian Shirley Sobremonte marked her special day with a dazzling celebration at the chic Pardon My French restaurant along Jupiter Road, Makati City.
The elegant soirée sparkled with exhilarating music from a talented band, whose upbeat tunes kept the dance floor alive well into the night. Guests from Manila’s stylish set arrived in glamorous disco-themed ensembles, filling the evening with laughter, rhythm and cheer. Adding a romantic touch, the darling of her life, Wil Cuperus, serenaded the lovely celebrant with a heartfelt rendition of My Girl, to the delight of everyone present. Truly, it was a radiant night of love, friendship, and sophistication — one that reflected the woman of the hour’s vibrant spirit perfectly.
