Jericho Rosales' brother sorry for disappearance, thanks continued support
MANILA, Philippines — Former actor Jeremiah Rosales, younger brother of Jericho, is promising to turn over a new leaf after worrying his family about a potential relapse.
The former actor spoke to broadcast journalist Julius Babao for the latter's YouTube channel, conducting the interview in the house his family lived in from 1999 to 2008 and now the residence of Jeremiah's own family.
Jeremiah confirmed that he worked in construction for about a month in Bicol in order to avoid being admitted into a rehabilitation center, but assured the journalist he was better now after returning home.
Jeremiah had been admitted before in a private center in Pasig City, with Jericho paying the monthly fee. However, he was let out before completing the one-year program after convincing the family he had recovered.
After a brief tour of the house, Jeremiah referred to his time away from family as isolation to ensure he was nowhere near drugs or other vices.
"One month akong nag-isolate para sa betterment of my family, kasi talagang hindi madali 'yung mga dumating sa akin na pagsubok," the former actor said upon sitting down with Julius, admitting that he turned to alcohol and drugs as "outlet."
Jeremiah recounted the incident when he supposedly went missing stemmed from an encounter with his daughter Felize. Emotions were high and he had been drinking. His daughter called on his brother, Jericho, for assistance, and the actor suggested returning to rehab.
Upon seeing the van and personnel assigned to pick him up, Jeremiah instead just took his motorcyle with nothing but his wallet to Manila, Rizal, then the province to isolate.
The former actor admitted being worried since the center he was being sent to required him to stay for three years, with no visitors permitted.
Jeremiah worked as a laborer with the help of extended family members while in isolation, later learning that Jericho knew he was in Bicol and was financially helping him through their cousins.
"Doon ako parang naging kalmado, noong nag-post si Kuya doon ako naging kampante," he said, calling it the moment he decided to go back home and change.
A tearful Jeremiah asked his family for forgiveness, acknowledging that any "strength" he obtained from drugs or alcohol was only temporary and never really solved his problems.
Felize shared that Jericho was very positive about Jeremiah's wellbeing, offered therapy for any one who may need it, and asked that Jeremiah and Jhen be good parents.
Asked by Julius for his message for Jericho, Jeremiah jokingly asked for a job before apologizing for worrying him again despite a busy schedule.
"Pinipilit ko magbago 'tol, kilala mo naman ako. Mahina lang 'yung foundation ko pero nagpapaka-tigas ako," Jeremiah added. "Ito na siguro 'yung time na na talagang minold ako ng Panginoon na desidido ako mag-bago. I love you." — Video from Julius Babao's YouTube channel
