DSWD, DepEd get top ratings in OCTA poll

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received the highest satisfaction rating while the Department of Education (DepEd) emerged as the most trusted among government agencies included in a Tugon ng Masa survey conducted by the OCTA Research group.

Results of the non-commissioned survey conducted from Dec. 10 to 14 found that 86 percent of the respondents were satisfied with DSWD’s performance.

Only three percent were dissatisfied with the agency, while 12 percent were undecided.

Following DSWD were the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) with 82 percent, DepEd with 81 percent, Department of Health (DOH) with 78 percent and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with 76 percent.

In terms of trust, DepEd received the highest rating with 84 percent.

Only two percent said they distrust the education agency, while 14 percent were undecided.

DepEd was closely followed by CHED with 83 percent, DSWD with 82 percent, DOH with 80 percent and DPWH with 75 percent.

The survey covered 17 other agencies under the executive branch of government.

Following DPWH in terms of satisfaction were the Departments of National Defense (DND), 74 percent; the Interior and Local Government (DILG), 68 percent; Labor and Employment (DOLE), 68 percent; Foreign Affairs (DFA), 67 percent; Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), 64 percent; Science and Technology (DOST), 61 percent; Agriculture (DA), 61 percent; Tourism (DOT), 59 percent and Justice (DOJ), 54 percent.

In terms of trust, following DPWH were the DND (74 percent), DOLE (68 percent), DFA (66 percent), DENR (66 percent), DOF (66 percent), DILG (65 percent), DOT (64 percent), DOST (64 percent), DA (62 percent), DOTr (54 percent), DOE (53 percent) and DOJ (52 percent).

The following agencies obtained below majority trust ratings: DMW (48 percent), DBM (48 percent), DICT (47 percent), DTI (46 percent) and DSHUD (45 percent).

The survey had 1,200 respondents and a margin of error of plus/minus three percent.
