MANILA, Philippines — First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will be conferred the “Chief Girl Scout” title by the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) next month, the organization has announced.

The installation and investiture ceremonies of Araneta-Marcos will be held in November at the Ceremonial Hall of Malacañang, the GSP said on Facebook on Friday.

Araneta-Marcos met with the GSP’s national executive committee led by its national president Cristina Lim-Yuson in Malacañang last Friday to discuss the First Lady’s role as the Chief Girl Scout.

Also present during the meeting were Susan Romualdez-Locsin, international commissioner and immediate past national president; Eugenia Fernandez, legal committee chair; Leonida Ortiz, fund development committee chair; Roselyn Davadilla, officer-in-charge of the Office of the National Executive Director; Ginnie Oribiana, assistant national executive director for program; Princess Grachelle Ballesteros, technical assistant of the Office of the National Executive Director and Gift So, deputy chief of Presidential Protocol and Protocol Officer to the First Lady.

Under the GSP Charter, a woman president or the first lady of the Philippines shall be the Chief Girl Scout.

The GSP’s Chief Girl Scout medal is the highest award bestowed on girl scouts and is built on overall development of a woman’s spiritual, physical, mental, emotional and social aspects.

The Chief Girl Scout medal scheme mandates all senior and cadet girl scouts to serve the community while also honing their leadership skills, perseverance and sense of responsibility.
