154 Chinese nabbed for violating immigration laws

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Authorities have arrested 154 Chinese nationals for allegedly violating immigration laws and engaging in illegal online gambling activities in Pampanga, the Bureau of Immigration said yesterday.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said his men, along with members of the Angeles City police, arrested the suspects during a raid on the Dong Gwang Annex Building on Thursday night.

Morente ordered the building searched after the BI’s intelligence team confirmed that the foreigners were in the area.

He said the raid was part of BI efforts to cleanse the country of undocumented foreigners, particularly those engaged in illegal activities.

“The suspects will be deported,” Morente said.
