Rody declares war vs online gambling

MANILA, Philippines - President Duterte has declared war against online gambling. 

“Online gambling must stop,” he said during his first Cabinet meeting in Malacañang yesterday. “There’s no way for the government to collect taxes in gambling.”

Duterte said curbing vice is more important than the difficulty of raising revenue.

“I don’t want the proliferation of gambling activities in the country,” he said.

Duterte reiterated that the earnings of the state-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. would be used to fund health services.

“It will go a long way to provide relief to Filipinos,” he said.
