Another bus falls into ravine: 39 hurt

PAGBILAO, Quezon , Philippines  – A bus fell into a 30-foot ravine while traversing the winding road along Maharlika Highway here early yesterday, causing injuries to 39 passengers.

Police Senior Superintendent Ericson Velasquez said that the Eagle bus (THP-443) was on its way to Manila from Ormoc City and traversing the curved portion of the highway when it lost its brakes, causing it to fall into the ravine.

Initial reports disclosed that 20 of the injured passengers were brought to Jane County Hospital.

Police were assisted by personnel of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ 4th Engineering District under engineer Ronnel Tan in the retrieval and rescue operation.
