In the spirit of fun, here are my Dollyisms on the “buzz du jour”:

Janella Salvador and Klea Pineda on rumored relationship, “What you see is what you get” (What we foresee is Si, Si, Si!)

Chie Filomeno to Sofia Andres: “I am your Karma” — (What a hard launch. Make it softie for Sofia).

Bea Alonzo clarifies that she’s not preggy — (Blame it on the Marites community that’s pregnant with crazy thoughts).

An Urian for Dennis

As a true child of showbiz, I know for a fact that Gawad Urian is the most prestigious award-giving body in the industry. So, Dennis Trillo was beyond thrilled as he bagged the much-coveted Best Actor plum at the 48th Gawad Urian for his role in “Green Bones.” Other actors are surely green with envy.

Here’s my chat with Dennis:

Will you be more choosy with your projects after bagging the Urian?

“I don’t think ‘choosy’ is the right word. Being mindful of my projects would be the more appropriate way of putting it. Since ‘Green Bones’ won so many awards, my next project must exceed that. So, deciding what movie to do now is quite tough.”

Among all the other actors in the MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival) entries last year, who would you pick to be Best Actor?

“My co-star in ‘Green Bones,’ Ruru Madrid. I feel that we exerted the same effort, so even if he won Best Supporting Actor, I think he deserves to win Best Actor, too.”

What’s more important to you, box-office success or awards?

“If I can have both at the same time, why not? But since ‘Green Bones’ bagged many awards, I will choose box-office success.”

Would you allow your kids to join showbiz?

“Jen and I will support our kids in all their choices in life. If they want to follow in our footsteps, we will guide them all the way. But they have to finish their studies before joining showbiz.”

The unmissable chapter of the University Series has finally arrived on Viva One, ‘Golden Scenery of Tomorrow (GSOT),’ topbilled by Bea Binene and Wilbert Ross. It is adapted from the best-selling Wattpad novel by Gwy Saludes.

Viva One’s Fifth University series

The unmissable chapter of the University Series has finally arrived on Viva One, “Golden Scenery of Tomorrow (GSOT).” Topbilled by Bea Binene and Wilbert Ross, it is adapted from the best-selling Wattpad novel by Gwy Saludes.

The series brings back the Univerkada of Heaven Peralejo, Marco Gallo, Jerome Ponce, Krissha Viaje, Gab Lagman, Hyacinth Callado, Aubrey Caraan, Lance Carr, Nicole Omillo and Jairus Aquino.

From the success of “The Rain in España,” “Safe Skies Archer,” “Chasing in the Wild” and “Avenues of the Diamond” comes the fifth installment, “GSOT.” It shows how love and pain can be a “combo loco.” So, when you are “walking on air, you better watch your step.” Heart and hurt kinda rhyme. It figures.

Here are quotes from Bea and Wilbert:

Bea: “What I like abotut Wilbert as a screen partner is that he goes over and beyond the call of duty. He makes sure that I am comfy in all our scenes and even off-cam, he looks out for me.

Wilbert: “Bea and I have this habit of asking each other, ‘Happy ka ba?’ while we are on the set. That’s our antidote for bad vibes. We make each other feel that we are doing things not because we have to but because we want to.”

Bea: “‘GSOT’ is not just about my character Via and Wilbert’s character, Arkin. It’s where the story of all the Univerkada begins. Viewers will get to know the background of every character.”

Wilbert: “In the ‘Scenery of My Tomorrow,’ I hope Bea will still be my on-screen partner.”

Bea: “Why choose between love and career when you can have the best of both worlds? If your partner really loves you, he won’t make you choose between him or your career.”

Singer Louie Heredia with Miss Universe Organization (MUO) owner Anne Jakrajutatip and reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Thelvig

Louie’s ‘Miss U’ stint

I heard from beauty pageant insiders that my friend from way back, Louie Heredia, has been tapped to be a member of the closed-door interview panel for the 74th Miss Universe Competition on Nov. 16 and for the Preliminary Competition Show on Nov. 19 in Pattaya. Pinoy representation is something Louie does so well in his second home, Thailand. If only Louie would be game to serenade the candidates with his timeless hit, Nagiiisang Ikaw, which is so apt for a Miss Universe winner.

Ensemble acting

My mom, Inday Badiday, used to say, “Mag-ingat sa mga tao na di mo kilala pero lalong mag-ingat sa mga tao na kilala mo na. (Beware of people you don’t know but be even more cautious of people you already know).”

That could very well be the blurb of Viva Films’ dark comedy, “Everyone Knows Every Juan,” now showing in cinemas. Megged by Alessandra de Rossi, who also stars in the film, its stellar cast includes Gina Alajar, Ruby Ruiz, Ronnie Lazaro, Joel Torre, Edu Manzano, Angeli Bayani, Kelvin Miranda, Empoy, Jaime Fabregas and JM de Guzman.

I got curious to watch the movie to see how they executed the “one-take” style. That shows how much of a risk-taker Alessandra is as a filmmaker. She was able to pull it off. JM, Angeli and Kelvin matched the level of brilliance of the OGs. Ensemble acting at its finest.

Watching the dysfunctional family unearth deep dark secrets will make you reflect on your own fam issues. The movie serves as a reminder that bonding must not turn into bondage. It tugs at your heartstrings and it also tickles your funny bone. Spontaneous, unconventional, daring and unfiltered, it’s a movie worth going back to the cinemas for.
