Jam Villanueva: My self-worth is non-negotiable
MANILA, Philippines — After recent issues in her personal life, Anthony Jennings’ ex-girlfriend, Jamela Villanueva, reflected on her self-worth, new beginnings and forgiveness.
“My self-worth is non-negotiable,” she declared during a media event for Ampong Dental Essentials, where she was introduced as the brand’s endorser. “Never lose yourself in the process, no matter what happens in your life. You still need yourself. Know your values and principles so you won’t get lost.”
Jam previously revealed Anthony’s alleged cheating with actress and onscreen partner Maris Racal.
“I’m still in the process of forgiving,” she stated.
“I’ve learned that protecting my peace is more valuable than proving a point,” she told The STAR.
“I’ve realized that not every truth needs to be justified to those who choose not to understand it. And most importantly, I’ve learned that self-respect, integrity and grace will always be my greatest strengths.”
Following what happened, she reminded herself to “keep choosing yourself and your happiness every day.”
“You are stronger than you think, wiser than before and exactly where you need to be,” she added.
Asked about her message to her former flame, she said, “What happened to us is something I would never wish on anyone, not even Michael (Anthony).”
Despite the controversy, Jam still believes Anthony is a “good person.”
“I was with him during those struggling years, and I know how much he prioritized and provided for his family. No ill will, only gratitude. Every experience is a lesson and every lesson is a stepping stone to something greater. Wishing you nothing but growth and peace.”
On how she coped with the controversy, Jam shared that she chose herself.
“By prioritizing my peace, surrounding myself with people who uplift me and focusing on things that truly bring value to my life. Healing isn’t instant, but by allowing myself to grow from my experiences instead of being defined by them, I’ve been able to embrace brighter tomorrows with an open heart and a renewed spirit.”
With the tagline Every Smile Tells a Perfect Story, the dental clinic chose Jam as the new face of the brand because she “embodies the essence of Ampong Dental Essentials — resilience, self-worth and the power of new beginnings.”

Jam admitted she was initially hesitant to accept the endorsement, as she didn’t want people to think she was using the issue to land a project.
“Ever since December, when the issue broke out, opportunities came my way,” she recalled. “And as much as possible, I didn’t entertain them because I didn’t want it to seem like I was using the controversy to gain opportunities.”
But as the new year began, she took time to reflect.
“Ampong was very persistent. And when I learned that their campaign aligned with my values, I said yes.”
Since bringing Jam on as an endorser, Camille observed that the “brand’s reach and resonance have significantly amplified.”
