Other than the new set of games featured in every episode, the viewers of “Barangay Singko Panalo” can expect the arrival of Joross Gamboa and Sam Coloso to team up with Kags Je (Jerald Napoles) and SK K (Kayla Rivera) as co-hosts. Also joining them is Bob Jbeil as Boogie.

Joross as Kags Jo will form the “J&J” tandem with Jerald as the game masters of TV5’s primetime sitcom and game show.

In an interview with select press, Joross said that “Barangay Singko Panalo” is new to him because of its format. “It’s a gag show and at the same time, a game show. My contribution is that madadagdagan ng ka-banter-an sina Je and SK K. We’ll feel that the family is growing. Our ka-barangays will relate more to (the show) with the addition of new characters.”

Sam was “ecstatic” and “grateful” when she learned that she would be part of the program. “My role is Queenie, parang ako lang talaga. I can relate to her na parang naglalaro lang po yung characters namin. It’s fun.”

Sam was a SPINGO co-host, “It’s Showtime” Sexy Babe grand winner (2022), and a courtside reporter. Sam will be seen on “Barangay Singko Panalo” starting early May.

“We call Joross as true ‘papa-ble’. He is like makulit and at the same time he is lovable,” described Kayla of Joross. “His character is very funny and also lovable. So I’m sure maraming matutuwa (with his character).”

“Of course, we know that Joross Gamboa has been in the industry the longest among this cast,” Jerald told The STAR. “So his wisdom, whatever genre that he is in, it’s automatic that he knows how to adjust.”

“Actually, we ignore each other, nagpa-plastikan kami niyan. It’s purely work,” quipped Jerald when asked to describe his working dynamics with Joross.

On a serious note, he could attest how good Joross, having known him for a long time. “Alam na namin yung hilatsa ng utak ng isa’t isa and we are quick to pick up the things that we should do and say.  It’s automatic like we are not only doing our job but we are also like pals hanging out.”

“We display our wits, comedy in the gag. And yung iba pang wits, lumalabas through our banter with the contestants,” continued Jerald.

Joross as Kags Jo will form the ‘J&J’ tandem with Jerald (Kags Je) as the game masters of TV5’s primetime sitcom and game show.

“Like what Jerald said, our atmosphere on the set is free-flowing,” reacted Joross. “We have the freedom to contribute and suggest and we talked about it.”

Joross shared that there are a lot of surprises for the audience to watch out for, especially with their scenes. “Our (goal) is to entertain (the viewers) and at the same time, to deliver polished adlibs. All the cast, writers, directors, nag-uusap-usap kami (we brainstorm). It’s like we’re just playing.

“Sometimes, kinakabahan na kami baka hindi na kami paswelduhin dito because ‘di naman kayo nagtatrabaho, naglalaro kayo,” joked Joross. “But it’s fun at talagang magre-reflect sa mga audience natin (fun and happiness).”

One of the show’s directors, Perci Intalan, who had worked with Joross and the other cast in earlier projects, believed that the group would bond really well.

“I think that’s the key to elevate the fun aspect of the show. Lumalabas kasi because you are comfortable with each other.”

(“Barangay Singko Panalo” airs from Monday to Friday at 5:30 p.m. on TV5’s TodoMax Primetime Singko block, airing before “Frontline Pilipinas.”)
