MANILA, Philippines — Actress Andi Eigenmann revealed that her mother Jaclyn Jose suffered a heart attack.

"I announce the untimely passing of my nanay Mary Jane Guck, better known as Jaclyn Jose at the age of 60 on the morning of March 2nd, 2024 due to myocardial infarction or a heart attack," Andi announced in a press conference earlier.

"We'd like to thank everyone who has since extended their prayers and condolences to us as our family is trying to come to terms with this unfortunate incident," she added.

"Please provide us the respect and privacy to grieve and we hope this put all speculations to rest," she said.

"Her undeniable legacy will forever live on though her work, through her children and the many lives she touched as she herself, her life herself, was her greatest obra maestra. Thank you," she added.

Jaclyn's talent agency, PPL Entertainment Inc., released a statement shortly after the news broke out last night.

"It saddens us to inform everyone of the untimely passing of Miss Jaclyn Jose (real name Mary Jane Guck). More details will be shared as soon as they are available.

"The Guck and Eigenmann families are requesting for everyone to please pray for the eternal repose of Miss Jaclyn Jose and for them to be allowed the respect and privacy to mourn her passing, and navigate these difficult times," the statement ended.

Jose starred in many films, including works by celebrated directors Lino Brocka and Chino Roño.

In 2016, she became the first Filipino to win the Best Actress Award at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival for her work in Brillante Mendoza's film "Ma'Rosa."

Jose has been a familiar face on Philippine TV by starring in popular dramas since the 1990s to the present.

Some of her dramas include "Mula Sa Puso," "Marimar" and "Alyas Robinhood." She was last seen as Chief Espinas in "FPJ's Batang Quiapo."
