Joanna Ampil releases new album

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Fresh from her successful UK and European tour as Grizabella in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Cats, Joanna Ampil returns for the release of her new album from Viva Records.

The self-titled album mixes old and new songs with a star-studded line-up of collaborators and producers. The first single release is Hanggang Saan, a composition by  hitmaker Vehnee Saturno who also produced the song which is now on heavy rotation in various radio stations.

Another highlight is Never Thought I’d Ever Love This Way, a duet with Concert King Martin Nievera that was produced by Christian de Walden of Hollywood. The song is a composition by Italian pop star Tony Renis who also wrote The Prayer.

Joanna was discovered as an unknown 17-year-old by Cameron MacKintosh and signed up to play Kim in the London production of Miss Saigon. She has since then made the theater her career and has divided her time between Manila and London. She has played both Eponine and Fantine in Les Miserables; Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar; Maria in West Side Story; Maria in The Sound of Music and other famous roles.

Joanna launched her new album yesterday at Market! Market!

She will then embark on a tour to promote her new album at the following Ayala Malls: Today at Ayala Terraces Fairview; July 13 at Harbour Point Subic; and July 25 at Trinoma with special guest Mark Bautista.
