Julia thrilled over ‘tailor-fit’ role

MANILA, Philippines - Some actresses would dare pick roles that force them to act significantly older than their real age. But current sensation Julia Montes, who just turned 18 last March, somewhat finds herself in the opposite direction, expressing her delight that her next teleserye role is not requiring her to appear too mature.

“Di po nalalayo sa age ko the character that I’ll be portraying. I feel the role is tailor-fit for me,” said the ABS-CBN star who embraced an adult persona as Katerina in last year’s hit series Walang Hanggan

Julia is scheduled to play a young woman her age named Sarah in the upcoming soap Muling Buksan Ang Puso where she’ll be seen sharing the screen with Enrique Gil and Enchong Dee.

In a chat with The STAR, she shared, “My name in Buksan ang Puso is Sarah, isang typical girl pero palaban. Siya ’yung tipong huwag mo syang kakantiin kasi lalaban s’ya sayo.”

She admitted feeling excited that some of Sarah’s characteristics mirror that of her own. And it enabled her to easily mark the difference between her latest acting challenge and the previous big one.

The former Goin’ Bulilit act noted, “If in Walang Hanggan I appeared mature enough for people to forget my real age, this time my role is quite close to the real me.”

After celebrating her “dream debut” earlier this year, everybody knows that Julia (born Mara Hautea Schnittka) had just been ushered into ladyhood. She recently graced the grand launch of Debut by Juan Carlo which organized her glamour-filled 18th birthday; in that occasion, she was seen descending from a swing while singing as she entered the party.

Juan Carlo, now almost 20 years in the industry, is known for its classy catering services that handled the receptions of noted celebrity weddings like those that featured couples Sen. Bong Revilla and Lani Mercado, Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez, and Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villarroel whose secret wedding became sensational talk of the town.

Debut by Juan Carlo, an idea by young visionary Juan Carlo del Rosario, opts to establish itself in the forefront of making dream debuts come true. Julia certainly fitted as its endorser saying, “Juan Carlo was able to concretize what I had in mind for the perfect debut.”

Witnessed by members of the press, The Debut by Juan Carlo event happened at Fernwood Garden in Quezon City, boasting an elaborate set-up of sumptuous food and fashion show attended by its suppliers and hosted by current Alamid vocalist Carl McFly.
