Design firm Asuncion-Berenguer Inc. sets up new office

MANILA, Philippines - In line with the increased demand for architecture and interior design work demanded by a resurgent economy, design firm Asuncion Berenguer Inc. (ABI) set up a new office in a central Greenhills location.

The firm headed by partner architects and husband-and-wife team K. Digno P. Asuncion and Isabel Berenguer Asuncion are currently influencing the tastes and standards of the aspiring Metro Manila urban dweller through the architectural and interior design work they are doing for a number of leading developers. ABI projects include the architecture of a townhouse project and some clubhouses; and the interior design of residential, retail, corporate, hospitality and institutional projects of upscale developments.

Among its most recently completed projects is the interior design of the public areas, suites and the Wellness Center of the St. Luke’s Hospital at Bonifacio Global City. The Wellness Center provides an innovative spa-like environment that has redefined the executive checkup experience. ABI is also revolutionizing local architecture through their abstract compositions like the Shell service station food hubs along the North and South Luzon expressways, and the Trevia Clubhouse in Nuvali, among others.

According to K. Digno or “Ding,” the move to larger offices in a strategic location will allow ABI to accommodate a bigger and more dynamic organization as well as to be more responsive to its clients that include influential real estate industry players. The new offices are at the Home Studio Building on Connecticut Street, Northeast Greenhills, San Juan City.

Isabel, who writes a regular newspaper column on design, relates that ABI is distinguished by its contemporary design approach and its ability to create and deliver design surprise and excitement in different environments. It provides comprehensive planning and design solutions from inception to post-construction.

The Asuncions lived and worked in Hongkong at the height of the construction boom in the ‘90s. Ding worked with the Hongkong office of one of the largest architectural practices in the US and for an avant garde architectural firm with a portfolio of international high-end clients. He was also the founder and managing director of Tectonic Designs Ltd., in Hongkong. His foreign experience exposed him to a wide spectrum of innovative international projects including commercial, residential, corporate and institutional projects as well as clubs, spas, hotels, resorts for clients from Hongkong, South Korea, Taiwan, China, France and the United Kingdom.
