PUNLA: When dreams founds their shape

When the members of the Makabagong Agrikultura ng Dinalupihan Marketing Cooperative (MADMC) organized in Bataan, they shared a simple goal: to create better opportunities for local farmers and their families.

They eventually expanded into dairy production, producing fresh milk, yogurt, kesong puti and other local delicacies. But despite their determination, they knew they could only grow so far on their own.

Everything changed when they joined PUNLA (Pag-unlad at Paglago ng Pamayanan), Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation's capacity-building program.

Initially hesitant, the cooperative soon discovered that PUNLA offered more than technical assistance.

Through mentoring, training and organizational development, the program strengthened its financial management, improved operations and prepared it for sustainable growth. Membership increased, facilities improved and more families benefited from the cooperative's success.

The greatest transformation, however, could not be measured in numbers.

One member was able to send a child to college through income earned from supplying fresh milk. Others found renewed confidence in working together, strengthening not only their enterprise but their community as well. Their products eventually reached trade fairs in Metro Manila and even traveled overseas as pasalubong.

For MADMC, PUNLA became more than a livelihood program — it became a partner that believed in their potential.

"Yung pangarap namin ay nagkaroon ng mukha at kulay," the cooperative says.

As Manuel V. Pangilinan marks his 80th birthday, MADMC celebrates a leader whose vision continues to create opportunities — proving that when people are empowered to grow, entire communities flourish.
