EEI, SysNet power SM Offices with EV charging stations

MANILA, Philippines — EEI Corp. and partner SysNet Integrators Inc. are powering SM Offices’ initiative to support green transportation in the country.

EEI, through subsidiary EEI Power, and SysNet inaugurated three ParkNcharge electric vehicle charging stations at SM Offices’ ThreeE-com Center, FourE-com Center and FiveE-com Center in the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay.

It is a privilege and an honor to participate in endeavors that help the government to not only comply but fully support EVIDA (Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act) as we navigate a world with electric vehicles as part of our lives not just in today’s landscape but also as we move towards a future of sustainability,” EEI Power managing director Cris Noel Torres said.

EVIDA aims to promote innovation in the field of clean energy and sustainable transportation while developing a sunrise industry in the country and generating more employment.

The EEI and SysNet joint venture seeks to help developers, property managers and their establishments by simplifying the operations, monetization and management of electric vehicle charging stations.

SysNet president and CEO Joel Sapul said the three charging stations at SM Offices’ buildings aim to bring convenience to electric vehicle users when they are away from home.

“This will address range anxiety issues and accelerate EV adoption in these buildings. This kind of deployment will help contribute to attaining half of the zero-emission target for local transportation in the Philippines by 2040. We will continue to expand and sign up more buildings to reach this goal,” Sapul said.

The charging stations initially charge P28 per kilowatt-hour, VAT excluded, which according to EEI and SysNet, is 60 percent cheaper than fuel used by internal-combustion engine vehicles.

Users of the electric vehicle charging stations at the SM Office buildings can pay through e-wallet cashless mode via GCash, Maya or credit cards.

“By integrating these charging stations into our buildings, SM Offices reinforces its commitment to meet environmental standards and address the evolving needs of our tenant-partners,” said SM Prime Holdings vice president and head of commercial properties group Alexis Ortiga.

Moving forward, Ortiga said SM plans to expand its network of electric vehicle chargers to make green transportation options more accessible and convenient for everyone.

The installation of E-com Center charging stations is an offshoot of EEI Power and SysNet’s official agreement last year for the installation of electric vehicle supply equipment and management of charging stations in the Philippines.

SysNet is a company with more than 20 years of experience in the distribution, installation and construction of telecommunication products, facilities and software.

EEI, meanwhile, is recognized as one of the leading construction companies in the Philippines with big-ticket infrastructure projects in the pipeline, including railway projects.
