Deloitte opens delivery service center in Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — Professional services network firm Deloitte has opened a global delivery service center in the Philippines to serve clients in the Asia Pacific.

The global delivery service center, which is the firm’s first in the Asia Pacific, is located in Arthaland Century Pacific Tower in Taguig City.

Deloitte Consulting Philippines Delivery Center Inc. managing director Uday Sreeram said yesterday the firm decided to set up the facility in the Philippines given the convenience its offers and the availability of local talent.

“The Philippines is an ideal location given the convenience in time zones since we will be, for the most part, servicing our clients’ businesses and operations in  Asia Pacific. Most importantly, there is an abundance of young talent from the local universities that have the passion and ambition to develop a career in the global IT arena,” he said.

He said the facility currently has 150 employees providing systems integration and managed applications services for Deloitte’s clients.

By next year, the aim is to double the current employee count, and bring the number to 1,000 in five years.

To ensure the delivery center would have the employees needed, Sreeram said Deloitte has partnered with educational institutions such as University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas and iACADEMY so, it could recruit fresh graduates and train them for the job.

He said partnerships with more universities are being firmed up.

The establishment of Deloitte’s global delivery service center is expected to provide opportunities for locals to gain global experience.

“Filipino IT  professionals will have a chance to enhance their skills and gain valuable experience from working on major international projects, and expand their knowledge and get valuable insights from our talented staff in Deloitte technology centers worldwide,” Sreeram said.

Deloitte is currently involved in providing audit and assurance, consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory, tax and related services.

Prior to establishing its global delivery center in the Philippines, Deloitte has also set up regional delivery centers in China and Kuala Lumpur.

To date, the organization has about 26 global, regional and local delivery centers worldwide.
