Sun Cellular opening 50 new satellite offices

Louella Desiderio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Sun Cellular, one of the wireless brands of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., is planning to open 50 satellite stores next year to support its growth.

In a statement, Sun said it is setting up 50 Sun Shop satellite stores for next year.

The brand is on track to end this year with a total of 55 retail outlets.

As of end-October, Sun had 46 satellite stores nationwide.

The satellite stores are based on Sun’s commercial partnerships with third-party entities authorized to run retail operations for mobile services.

The move to expand its presence by opening more stores, is in line with the brand’s strategy to accelerate regional growth and maximize its presence in the communities where its market segments are.

“By adopting a grassroots and regionalized orientation of distributing our products and services, we have effectively broadened our touch points for our customers wherever they may be in the country. This allows the brand to build stronger ties with its subscribers regardless of their location,” Maloo Agoncillo, vice president and head of Retail Group at Smart Communications Inc. and Sun said.

The Sun satellite branches cater both to existing and prospective subscribers by giving access to postpaid line applications, bills payment, after-sales service, and prepaid transactions for cellular and broadband, as well as mobile Internet services.

The outlets likewise have Smart, Talk ‘N Text, and Smart Bro products and services.

Aside from growing Sun’s presence, the retail outlets also open opportunities for retailers of mobile services.
