International celebrity blogger Nicole Warne, a.k.a. Gary Pepper Girl, keeps her makeup to a bare minimum but never without her statement thick, black liner that dramatically opens up and defines her Asian eyes.

Up-and-coming makeup artist to the stars Mayesa delos Santos, who’s worked on faces like Georgina Wilson, Iza Calzado, Maja Salvador, Julia Barretto, Kim Chiu and Sarah Lahbati, to name a few, has also worked with our very own digital darling, Kim Jones on her wedding to actor and singer Jericho Rosales. Kim certainly knows a thing or two about liners as her preferred sultry wingtip liner beautifully juxtaposes her sweet, wholesome look.

Mayesa shares, “When it comes to her (Kim) winged eyeliner look, she likes her liner to start near the middle of her eye then droop at the edge of her eye before extending upward, creating a winged-eyeliner effect.”

Here are Mayesa’s tips on how to get your eyeliner game down to perfection:

1. When buying eyeliner, test it first by applying at the back of your palm, leave for few seconds until it dries and try to wash it with soap to see if it won’t smudge or come off easily.

In selecting your desired color, it’s best if you buy an extremely black hue or any color with its maximum pigment.

2. Set your eyeliner with the same shade of eyeshadow to make it last longer.

3. “Tightlining” trick is the best to achieve a natural look. Instead of lining your eyes above your eyelashes, apply the liner in between your lashes.

4. Eyeliner application is easier when you’re looking down instead of having your eyes closed as you’ll have the tendency to squint.

5. Use brown eyeliner instead of black for a more natural, day look.
