Can you believe that it’s almost December and yet the rains have not stopped? Don’t let the weather get the best of you. If you are used to going out fully dolled up, but worried what you will later on look like if, by any chance, you get rained on, then relax and let me give you tips that will make you look good in both dry and wet weather conditions.

Based on my professional experience as a makeup artist, the continued search for the perfect waterproof products never ends.

First is the foundation. The foundation is one of the most important products you should invest on. This is the base that holds the rest of the makeup. Of course, with great, healthy skin, a long-wearing foundation should make your look last for more than 12 hours. On the photograph, I used Lasting Performance by Max Factor and you can perfectly see how well it holds even when it’s rained on.

Next is your eyebrow pencil. Now this is also very important especially if you have no eyebrows at all. As seen on the photograph, even if it’s rained on, the eyebrows are still intact.

Moving on to the one of the most important products — your mascara. Even without the rain, it is very important that you wear waterproof mascara even for your everyday use. Why? You don’t want your mascara smudging under your eyes in the middle of the day. This will make you look tired, old and messy. Make sure you look fresh and bright eyed. It will take your look from day to night. What I usually do is I apply at least two coats. Make sure to apply it well and carefully. Also, make sure to brush each and every lash to get the bright-eyed look. A waterproof formulation will help you go through the rest of the day and night looking as fresh and clean as if you just applied your makeup.

Once you have a good solid base, your cheek color will be nice and intact because the pigments are anchored to a good base, which is your foundation. So you don’t have to worry about the color fading when you get rained on.

Another great product that you should invest on is a long-wearing lip product. Aside from having the confidence of knowing that your lips are still full and nicely colored even after you get rained on, it’s also a great thing not to worry about your lips even after a meal. I think that alone helps take the stress away from worrying about your look so you could worry about something else.

The next question I’m sure that every lady is asking — how do you retouch your makeup after coming out from the rain? It’s simple. All you need is a facial tissue and dab. Just let the tissue absorb the water and dab. When you have taken the water off your face, you can touch up with your pressed powder and you’re all set.

There you have it — a look that will take you from day to night, dry or wet. The confidence you have knowing that your look won’t change even when you get rained on is a great feeling to have — it’s like weight has been lifted off of your shoulders.

Isn’t it a relief to see yourself still looking fresh and bright eyed in the middle of the day? So if it suddenly starts pouring outside before you reach your car, instead of frowning and hiding under the newspaper for shelter, look up, feel the rain on your face, smile and be beautifully drenched.

Get the look:

1. Cleanse. Tone if needed.

2. Groom eyebrows.

3. Even out skin tone with foundation.

4. Set with loose powder.

5. Curl lashes.

6. Apply waterproof mascara.

7. Lightly brush cheek color.

8. Finish with long wearing lip color.
