MANILA, Philippines -  The Commission on Audit (COA) joins in the push for renewable energy (RE) use with the completion of its 200-kilowatt (kw) solar rooftop project installed by PNOC Renewables Corp., the renewable energy arm of state-run Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC).

PNOC-RC said the solar rooftop project is installed at the COA dormitory and the Professional and Institutional Development Sector building.

PNOC-RC and COA both signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the solar project in May last year.

The project started construction in September and was completed last month.

“We are elated that our fellow government agencies, such as COA, are engaged in the development and implementation of renewable and efficient energy programs,” PNOC-RC president and CEO John Arenas said.

“It is evident that your initiatives are aligned with the PNOC-RC’s vision and the government’s thrust in promoting renewable energy. We are grateful and we are proud to be working with another government agency that shares the same values and vision and we look forward to working with you as a long-term partner,” he said.

Moving forward, PNOC-RC is on the lookout to put up more solar rooftop projects in other government agencies to promote the use of renewable, clean and green energy resources.

“PNOC Renewables Corp. endeavors to continuously work hard to promote RE advocacy and develop more RE projects,” Arenas said.

The company has recently completed three solar rooftop installations totalling 240-kWp in the University of the Philippines in Diliman, making it its first state university project.

It has also installed solar projects in the Department of Science and Technology in Taguig City, the Philippine Heart Center-Medical Arts Building in Quezon City, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Envi-Management Bureau and the Department of Health.

It is also looking to build 80-kWp solar rooftop project at the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in Quezon City.
