Perpetual, EAC clash in intriguing rematch

MANILA, Philippines — Weeks after slugging it out for the PinoyLiga Collegiate Cup crown – a 64-63 squeaker won by Perpetual – the Altas and the EAC Generals meet again in Day 3 of the NCAA Season 102 men’s basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre today.

For Olsen Racela’s Altas, it’s more than just another elimination game. It’s a chance to prove that preseason title was no fluke, and to nail that elusive first win after tripping in the opener.

Champions of the PinoyLiga and armed with veteran leaders Mark Gojo Cruz, Shawn Orgo, Gelo Gelsano and JM Tulabot, the Altas came into Season 102 with high hopes. But Letran spoiled the party on opening Sunday, 84-77, behind rookie Denzil Walker’s 21-point explosion.

Gelsano had 11 and 10 in that loss as JD Pagulayan topscored with 18.
