Milo Marathon Manila leg off the wraps

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The much-awaited Manila leg of the 2024 National Milo Marathon will welcome families, aspiring runners and professional athletes when it unfolds today at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds in Pasay City.

This is the fourth leg of the season where over 20,000 participants are expected to conquer the roads at full speed with routes covering the streets of Pasay and Manila.

Aligned with the celebration of its 60th year in the Philippines, Milo aims to bring out the inner champion of every Filipino through the National Milo Marathon.

“We believe that sport is a great teacher where we learn the valuable lessons that shape us to become successful not just in our athletic endeavors, but also in life,” said Carlo Sampan, head of Milo Sports.

Tension is on for elite runners in the 42K centerpiece event. Last year’s female champion Maricar Camacho is seeking to prolong her winning streak in the Manila leg while Jocelyn Elijiran, Welfred Esporma and Florendo Lapiz are out to crowd her.

Aside from the race, exciting side activities will also await participants. Squads of cheer-dancing teams will put out an all-out performance in a competition that will be held on the main stage of the activity area.

The 42km race will fire off at 1 a.m. with a six-hour cut-off time. The 21K will start at 3 a.m., 10K at 4:30 a.m., 5K at 5 a.m., 3K at 5:30 a.m. and 1K at 5:45 a.m.
