Pocari Sweat's Myla Pablo

MANILA, Philippines – Myla Pablo’s return to Pocari Sweat hangs in limbo after she stated that she would not return if the squad would not reach an agreement with Air Force.

Pablo said she already developed chemistry and cohesiveness with her current teammates and starting all over again with another team will be a step backward as far as her career is concerned.

Regarded as one of the country’s best spikers, Pablo is in the middle of her five-year contract, which was rumored to be the biggest in the local volleyball circuit.

But she said she’s willing to entertain other offers and seek a buyout if her mother company, Federal Distributors, Inc. (FDI), would surround her with another set of teammates.

Pablo and FDI are set to discuss her future next week.

“We have a meeting next week so I really have no clue what their plans are,” Pablo told Mark Escarlote of ABS-CBN Sports.

“If I will team up again with Air Force next year, I will be glad to return because our team will not be disbanded. But if not, I think I will opt out. I will quit.”

“If I will be in a different team, I have no choice but to adjust and develop chemistry again. I want to play for the same team from the start until the end of my contract. It’s really tough to start all over again.”

With Pablo having second thoughts of returning, speculations are pregnant that she is contemplating on returning to the Philippine Superliga.

Sources said at least three teams are seriously interested in buying her out of her current contract, including Cocolife, which is dead serious in pairing her with another powerful spiker in Filipino-American Kalei Mau.

Although nothing is definite at the moment, she reiterated her readiness to pack her bags if and when Pocari Sweat decides to blow up the current team and surround her with new teammates.

“If there would be other team, I would definitely seek a buyout,” she said.
