The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Armed Forces of the Philippines shoots for its sixth straight win when it battles Malacañang tomorrow at the start of the second round of the fourth UNTV Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The AFP Cavaliers, who swept their five Group B matches, clash with the Malacañang Patriots at 7 p.m. with the former determined to stay unbeaten in the crossover phase to boost their bid for an outright semis seat.

In other games, Senate, which forged a four-way tie for Group A lead, collides with Bureau of Fire Protection at 3:30 p.m. while National Housing Authority tangles with Metro Manila Development Authority at 5 p.m.

The Senate Defenders rode on the fourth quarter explosion of former PBA MVP Kenneth Duremdes to edge the PNP Responders, 72-71, and tie their victims, the Builders and the Patriots at 3-2.

The top two teams after the round will advance outright to the semis while the last two placers will be eliminated. The third placer, on the other hand, collides with the No. 6 team, and the No. 4 team takes on the No. 5 in a one-game face-off with the winners securing semis berths.
