Titleist unveils high-performance Pro VI, Pro VIx

Abac Cordero (The Philippine Star) - March 24, 2013 - 12:00am

MANILA, Philippines - The number one ball in golf just keeps on getting better.

The other night, at the Philippine Army Golf Club, Titleist presented its 2013 version of the most sought after Pro V1 and Pro V1x with the promise of an even better performance.

“These are the best golf balls Titleist has ever produced,” said Tom Hutton, Titleist golf ball product manager for Southeast Asia.

A lengthy power-point presentation showed what the latest Titleist golf balls are all about as Hutton dissected the product which has produced 190 pro tour victories worldwide.

Hutton said it’s all about performance and precision, and while Titleist officials have said that before, there’s more to the latest designs of the Pro V1 and Pro V1x.

First, he said these are the softest Pro V1s ever made, and softer balls mean shallow and longer flights out on the fairway.

“That provides more distance, more consistent ball flight and a shallower angle of descent for more roll. It has outstanding spin control and this drop-and-stop greenside control,” said Hutton.

An improved Urethane Elastomer cover system also ensures longer lasting durability, and makes the new Titleist balls stay whiter and brighter longer.

The clubhouse of the PA Golf Club was filled with guests for what was billed the “Titleist Night” and most were given the chance to try out the latest Titleist line.

A fun competition among the guests was held and prizes for the longest and most accurate drive, and putts were given away.

Christopher Tang, president and CEO of Dynamic Sports Corporation, exclusive distributor of Titleist in the country, promised a series of major events on behalf of his 25-year-old corporation.

Titleist, according to Hutton, was No. 1 in victories last year in the pro ranks, and has always been No. 1 in the amateur ranks as well.

“So, why introduce new models when we are already the number one?” Hutton asked.

“Because we know we can still make it better,” was his own answer.

There’s no end for improvement for Titleist.
