Bondoc captures SQ kart crown

-

MANILA, Philippines - Actor-turned-sportsman Onemig Bondoc made great strides as he pulled a sweep of the two races recently to emerge the SQ Racing champion recently in the KF2-KF3 Series at the Clark International Speedway in Angeles.

Bondoc, who hit stardom via the hit TV series TGIF, unveiled amazing strategy and driving skills as he dominated the races in both the CIS East and West tracks of this event sponsored by Pagcor Sports and supported by Aeromed.

SQ Racing is the cheapest among the karting formula races running on stock engines and basic chassis set-up. It was introduced last year to provide an avenue for racing enthusiasts to run in an entry level competition at a very affordable cost.

Bondoc, a former jetski and motorcycle rider, negotiated the east course with ease as he controlled the tempo all throughout and completed the eight-lap race in nine minutes, 26.300 seconds or 2.906 seconds against equally talented runner-up John Effinger.

Jason Choachoy checked in third while Bobby Noriega and Mark Laxsa wound up fourth and fifth respectively.

Over at the West course the following day, Bondoc displayed the same intensity as he pulled away early in the race to dictate the tempo before wrapping up the eight-lap race at a much faster time of eight minutes and 19.785 or 2.099 seconds ahead of runner-up Eugene Euperio.

Effinger slipped down to third while Jason Choachuy and Bobby Noriega finished fourth and fifth respectively.
