LSGH, Ateneo dominate school jungolf kickoff

MANILA, Philippines –  La Salle Greenhills cruised to victories in the juniors and midgets 1 divisions while Ateneo topped the Midgets 2 category at the completion of the ICTSI Inter-School junior golf tournament at the Tat Filipinas and Philippine Navy courses recently.

The Greenies, behind veteran internationalist AR Ramos, posted 281 to beat La Salle Zobel by 17 in the juniors category and completed a double victory by routing the field.

With Aidric Chan leading the attack, Ateneo 1 pooled a 146 to beat Ateneo 2 by 35 in Midgets 2 play.

St. Paul’s Pasig and La Salle Zobel split the titles in the girls division of the Inter-School series of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines backed by the International Container Terminal Services, Inc.

Philippine Airlines, Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy and Sizzilin Pepper are major sponsors of the Inter-School.

Meanwhile, the second leg starts today at Royal Northwoods in San Rafael, Bulacan. The event’s other backers are Dynamic Sports and Leisure Corp., McDonald’s, Smart, Golf Depot and Pioneer Insurance.

St. Paul Pasig totaled 188 to rule Girls 1 while La Salle Zobel pooled 154 for the Girls 2 crown.

Princess Superal led the individual winners, topping Girls 1, Mia Legaspi bagged the Girls 2 title and Ramos took the juniors plum. Gabriel Manotoc won the midgets trophy for Acacia School.

Meanwhile, the RP Jungolf squad of Daniella Uy, also members of the ICTSI team, and Sarah Jane Ababa placed third behind two Thailand squads in the recent Singha Thailand Junior World at the Royal Hua Hin course in Bangkok.
